Our Story

First Bus in the North of England embraces services which operate in a cross-section of different markets and geographies – from large city region conurbations with mass travel needs to smaller secondary towns and rural areas together with high profile leisure and tourism destinations.

In all areas we work closely with regional and local authority partners in the delivery of the bus network and dedicated services including park & ride, guided busways and new innovations in public transport such as DRT (demand responsive transport) for pre-booked trips using pick-up points to connect people to key services and transport hubs.

We continue to invest in multi-million pound improvements to our fleet with new vehicles, including through joint funding with councils and regional bodies where possible to introduce zero-emission buses or enhance existing vehicles to meet the latest emissions standards. This is helping to meet environmental targets and create cleaner air the communities we serve.
