First West Yorkshire
First West Yorkshire operates the largest bus network in the region with a fleet of 900 vehicles and some 3,000 employees working at eight depots.
It is firmly underway with a strategy to reduce emissions and improve air quality in towns and cities. First West Yorkshire has invested more than £50m in the last three years to introduce close to 200 ultra-low emission buses into Leeds. In October 2020 it launched the first zero-emission fleet in West Yorkshire and more all-electric buses were added in September 2021.
This replacement programme has helped other depots to improve their fleets with better-performing diesel vehicles. It is also introducing 39 new ultra-low emission buses into the Bradford fleet during spring and summer 2022, an investment of more than £8m.
